Spring 2022 Changes to Campus Cluster

Written by Engineering IT

On January 19th, 2022, Engineering IT split the Grainger College of Engineering investment in the Illinois Campus Cluster Program into two queues – one intended for CPU based jobs, and one for GPU based jobs.  Please visit the Research Computing Resource page for decision guides, training opportunities, and grant proposal support.

This change will help make the GPU resources more readily available for researchers that need them. This change should make a positive difference for those jobs that depend on GPU availability while also retaining ample CPU resources for jobs that are primarily CPU dependent.

Additionally, the 5th phase of Grainger College of Engineering's investment in the Campus Cluster has been approved and submitted for purchase. This will add 40 GPU's to the existing 20 - tripling the GPU resource for researchers across the college.

As always, Engineering IT Shared Services is here to help you get starting using the Campus Cluster resources. Please reach out to ask questions, request consulting, or find resources.
