Exchange Authentication Change - Summer 2022

7/20/2022

Information about Exchange Authentication Changes happening on August 1, 2022

Written by

On August 1, 2022 an older, less secure login method to Exchange Email will be disabled by Technology (Tech) Services. This push is to prepare campus mailbox users for when Microsoft takes a similar change on October 1, 2022.

Tech Services has emailed all the affected mailboxes in July, but we recognize that emails are easy to miss these days. If you wish to ensure you will not be impacted, please contact engrit-help@illinois.edu or call us at 217-333-1313.

If you take no action, you will not see new email messages on your mobile device or email client as of August 1st until you take action. You will still be able to see your emails online at https://go.illinois.edu/webmail when you sign-in with your University of Illinois email address and password.

Action To Take

Most affected people need to update their accounts on their mobile phones or devices.

Hint: if you do not get prompted with Duo two-factor authentication when you re-add your account, the authentication method has not been updated correctly. Please contact us for help at engrit-help@illinois.edu or 217-333-1313.
