Jupyter Notebooks are available for student use through EngrIT and Illinois Computes Research Notebooks (ICRN).
ICRN is a campus-hosted Jupyter Notebooks environment that is free to use, including student coursework. ICRN is also attached to GPU and compute resources at significant scale, and can support coursework involving machine learning.
Engineering IT is partnering with Illinois Computes to offer ICRN JupyterHub support and implementation help to Grainger instructors, especially those whose students are using a paid cloud notebook environment such as Colab Pro.
Instructors participating in our joint pilot are not required to mandate ICRN for all students nor for all assignments. It's not too late, in other words, to have your students try out ICRN for your coursework this fall - or at any time!
To learn about gaining access to ICRN for on-campus instructional use, please contact Rob Bennett, Instructional Technology Facilitator. Rob will be happy to set up a quick consult to help you determine if ICRN is right for your course.
