7/10/2023

Timeline: Today, July 10th and July 11th, 2023

What: Microsoft Teams Transition Reminder and Actions

Details: Log into Microsoft Teams on your computer today; this should make for an easier phone number transition. If Teams is not already on your machine, go to https://www.office.com, log in using your university credentials and you should see it listed there on the left hand side menu to download. Then log into it using your university credentials.

We also suggest that you reschedule all virtual meetings occurring on 7/11/2023 to use Zoom exclusively for the entire day.

Below, we have a list of items that will and won’t be migrated on Tuesday, July 11th, plus actions that you can take to address settings that will not be migrated. You can also see what Technology Services says you should expect post transition: https://techservices.illinois.edu/microsoft-teams/what-to-expect/

As always, we are here to help through this transition - please contact us if you have any issues or questions. You can email us at engrit-help@illinois.edu. Please note, our phone line will also be temporarily impacted by this transition at some point during July 11th as well.

What will get migrated?

1.  Your current campus phone number
2.  Your contacts and contact groups
3.  Your current voice policy (local, domestic long-distance, international calling)
4.  Your voicemail settings
5.  Skype for Business meetings that were created by you will be converted to Teams Meetings, though you'll see reminders about this change.
6.  A department’s Common Area Phones, Role-based Accounts and Skype Response groups

What won’t get migrated? And actions to address, if possible.

1.  Your phone delegation, forwarding, and team call group settings. These must be re-configured once your number is moved to Teams. Check out the knowledge article to Set Up Forwarding/Delegation Teams
2.  Skype Private Lines. These do not exist in Teams.
3.  Your IM chats within Skype for Business. These will continue to exist in your Outlook Mailbox Conversation History folder but will not be moved to Teams chats.
4. Your Skype for Business profile picture. This Microsoft help article describes how to Upload a Profile Picture in Teams.
5. You audio/video device settings, check out this link to Manage your Microsoft Teams Audio Settings.
6. (Optional) Meetings scheduled for Skype for Business calls can be edited to use Microsoft Teams for online meetings.
