EWS Storage Issues
9/18/2014
Update (Sept. 18th): After various stability issues this past weekend due to simultaneous highly resource intensive MP assignments during peak usage times, Infrastructure staff has made a number of adjustments to the NFS file server that as of this morning seem to have resulted in overall better file system performance. Performance of the system is being closely monitored.
Update (Sept. 14th): Engineering IT has update hardware and reconfigured the EWS home directory server to use a different version of NFS protocol. Tests have indicated this will reduce or eliminate the delays and degradation of service experienced by EWS users, however peak usage by large numbers of users will be necessary to determine if the problem is solved completely.
Original Announcement: Since mid-afternoon on Thursday, September 13, the Engineering IT home directory storage used in the instructional lab environment (EWS Labs) has been experiencing intermittent outages during peak usage times. Engineering IT Infrastructure support staff are dilligently working on addressing this problem. Please check back here for future details regarding the resolution of this issue.
