CONTINUED: EWS Linux home directory service degraded

The Linux home directory server began having issues at 1:45pm on Tuesday, October 15 and as of 4:30pm on Friday, October 18, the problems have continued to reoccur.  The Windows home directory servers remain unaffected.

A few configuration changes have been made to at least try and partially mitigate the problems.  We do not yet know what impact, if any, these changes have made.

We are trying to determine the source of network traffic that is triggering the problem.  Anyone currently working on an assignment that involves writing to files is asked to contact ews [at] illinois.edu" href="mailto:ews [at] illinois.edu">ews [at] illinois.edu with information about what they are working on.

Details are being finalized regarding other changes that we will be making to address the continuing issues with Linux home directories.
